About The Shani Shingnapur Temple

The Shani Shingnapur Temple, also known as the Shri Shaneshwar Devasthan Shanishingnapur, is a famous Hindu temple located in the village of Shani Shingnapur in Maharashtra, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shani, the deity associated with planet Saturn in Hindu astrology.

One unique aspect of the Shani Shingnapur Temple is that it houses a self-emerged (svayambhu) black stone idol of Lord Shani, which is believed to be a powerful and protective deity. The idol is not placed inside a traditional temple structure but is rather positioned on a platform in the open air.

One of the remarkable customs of the temple is the absence of any doors or locks in the village houses. It is believed that Lord Shani's divine presence protects the village, and therefore, residents have faith in leaving their homes and belongings unsecured.
